Trapping Linear Blends in Quark 4.11

Can anyone help!! I have been experiencing showthrough problems when placing a text box with a linear blend (say green to white) on top of a picture box containing and eps image. The image is showing through the text box. The text is ok as it defaults to knockout.
I have tried changed the trapping settings to knockout but this doesn't work either. Is this just an issue with linear blends and can it be corrected in any other way than placing a white box behind the text box?

Quark cannot trap imported objects.

Doesn't Quark normally set the trapping for a imported object to knockout because it is classed as "indeterminate"? However, after testing, testing and more testing I now think that this problem is down to a fault with my GMG Rip. I'll let you know!

Do you need to see the image through the blend? If not place an empty picture box filled with white or 0% black behind the box with the blend. Crude but it works.

Thanks for your input Lammy, I knew about putting the white box behind the gradient as a workaround - but I hate workarounds!!
To lay this to rest I have finally found the problem:- GMG Ripserver 3.5.26 has a bug which causes this problem with gradients! (according to my sources).
So when I was sending a PDF to the Rip and outputting an IRIS proof it looked like we had a problem. The PDF itself was fine (it went through a Brisque Rip, Agfa Rip and previewed fine in Dalim LiTHO).
To solve this proofing issue we have upgraded the GMG Ripserver to 3.5.33 and all is well again. Phhhewwww!!!
