Updated to 6.5 - now the temp problem?

I had no problem untill I updated to 6.5, now when I try to use FontWizardXT to export as eps files, It goes to a default "Documents/temporary" folder.... Anyone have this happening?

We upgraded to Quark 6.5 and FontWizard 4.3...and have the same problem with the default export location as a temporary folder.

Checked updates - I am Current

Yes I have the updated version of Font Wizard, and this did not happen untill I installed the 6.5 update.

I also installed a QXTools extension that same day - has anyone seen a problem with combining the two?

Both actually work fine, except the defaulting to the Temp folder (which iss a huge PAIN), as I save as EPS all day long!

C'mon Quark - your heads aren't up there that far yet are they.

I updated to FontWizardXT 4.3 which is Quark 6.5 compatible but it also has problems when opening files that are on a server.

1. The file name changes to a number Ex: QXP-1112566156.eps

2. The file location to where it going to be saved defaults to an invisible folder on my startup drive My Drive / tmp / 501 / TemporaryItems

After re-naming the file and saving it to the location on the server where I need it, the file rips to our Rampage system just fine.

Fix on newest version 4.31 http://www.jolauterbach.com/

The extra temp files generated by saving in the form of "QXP-1112646192.qxp" is not fixed in 6.5 which in my opinion is a very poor omission from Quark.

I have noticed why this now happens. If the Auto Back Up is checked and an invalid path is in effect the file in use when saved will generate an extra file each time the original is saved named QXP-1112646192.qxp and so on. These extra files contain the latest saved changes making the original file the oldest unchanged one.

The path becomes invalid if the selected directory is moved/deleted/renamed also if you use an image including Quark and image on a new machine the path will be incorrect.

The solution is either to disable auto back up or set the path to a valid directory and restart Quark.

The other thing I noticed was that if the auto back up path/directoty is invalid on the second save of the original file the error "Duplicate file name [-48] is displayed. If you ok the error and save again the 'save as' dialog box is displayed.

Hope this helps anyone who has been frustrated with this as much as I have. Theere are 2 threads in this forum which have numerous view and replies on this subject, Quark apparently are aware of the issue but have chosen to stick their head in the sand on it - very disappointin

I thought I had thhis one sorted but the news is bad.

After 2 days with no issues I got a file that when saved started generating copies when saved in the original file location instead of the back up designated folder in "Auto BackUp" once again these filenames took the guise of QXP-1111591707.qxp etc and are the latest file with changes making the real file obsolete.

But in the real back up folder further copies are made in the guise of:
$_XPRS$_.$$$
$_XPRS$_.$$$A and so on.
these are also Quark files which have the latest content.
This file was created in Quark 6.5 - the only way around is for me to do a save as then the new file behaves correctly.

The new file is saved in the same place by the same user.

Please Quark address this problem - how can a site with multiple copies of Quark and hundreds of files work correctly when there is a huge problem like this.

OS is 10.3.5 client and server - Quark 6.5.
