Crops and Color Bars

New Member here!

Ok.... wanting to know if there is a way of getting rid of crops and color bars without using an Xtension or if there are any free ones that can do it. Our guys in the back spend way too much time taping off these damned things. $99 a license seems kind of steep. Any suggestions (besides smartassed ones e.g.-"Go CTP") would be appreciated.

Are you wanting to keep registration marks, but drop the crops/CB's?

No, I''m usually more direct than that. Guess we need to know his workflow. I send to nexus, add 1/8 inch all around, and set the regisration offset to .125" Many rips use the crop marks for page positioning, then marks are applied in the imposition application.

Ok, sorry about being so vague. Yes, I'm wanting to keep the registration marks (the guys use them to line up the seps), but the color bars and crop marks are just a waste of time. Unless...... scotws is right in his post and our RIP software uses them (ECRM based on Harlequin). Hadn't really thought about that. But still, I'd like to find a way to try it. Thanks!

If you have the knowledge you could use Resedit to change the color bars to white so they don't show up same with the crops. A long time ago I did this for the color bars in Quark3.

Never used it for anything. So... no. Unless you could train a monkey to do it, I may not have the know-how. PS- My monkey does all of my thinking. He's my special little guy.
