Oening Qrk4 files in Quark6-and saving Qrk files on network

the bug when saving Q4 files to Q6 format in 6.1

Quark XPress: Network file corruption (#2); voided serial numbers
Yesterday we covered reports of QuarkXPress file corruption when saving files over a network. Today we cover a reader's workaround, as well as a report of Quark "voiding" serial numbers.
Network file corruption workaround Reader Kelvin Tsang provides a workaround for the file corruption issue:
"We upgraded all the computers at our graphic design dept. to OS X last month (a total of 40 Macs), and we deployed QuarkXpress 6.1 during the migration. Within 2 weeks we noticed this file corruption. I had a chat with 2 different Quark support persons, and they suggested the following [two workarounds] (which worked for us)
Save files to desktop. Keep working off the desktop, and at the end just copy files to the server.
or
Save to version 5. Then re-open files and save to version 6.
This problem only happens when opening version 4/5 files on version 6.1, and then saving the files to the server. It doesn't occur on newly created Quark 6 files. It won't occur if you save files on the desktop. (Now all the Quark 4/5 files on our server are in version 6 so we no longer encounter this problem.)"
