I'll put some links up later today, I'm away from my regular machine today and can't remember them off the top of my head.

Adobes Class room in a book series are excellent.

The key to Photoshop is selections, how to make them and then manipulate them.

Seriously, either you need to open it in Photoshop and correct bleeds / colours / text / and then place it into InDesign to place your dieline or if you can't correct in Photoshop have the person that did it originally to fix it in Photoshop. Re-creating it in Freehand is so far out into left field I'm flabbergasted anyone would consider it."

Hi Joe,

I have no idea If SHE did the job originally or it was handed to her after the fact. ( i believe her boss did the orig )
I spoke with her on the phone, and she said they have FH and PS there. ( I believe she works in FH only )

I told her the bleeds needed to be corrected ect.
but I did not tell her she had to re build it in FH.

She asked me how to export to FH:

"is there was an easy was to export the photoshop file into FH "
I told her i have NO idea, ive never used FH and that we take her FH files and open them in Illy.

She then re created it in FH uploaded it to our ftp and went on VAC.

If its an insane thing to ask then i feel like an asshole (and maybe rightfully so)
but Im doing as I was told (by the Lead)
Sounds like a mess. You did the right thing in asking whomever to fix it if you can't. You really have no control over how they decide to fix it. You should not feel like an a$$hole either...had they supplied it to correctly in the first place they would not have had to fix it.

Photoshop SC2 PSD files

Photoshop CS2 PSD are very much flexible and convenient. It can be directly placed in Illustrator and all adobe products. You can keep the layers, fonts masks everything intact. The fonts will output as hi-res vector in imagesetter. Option click from the placed image opens photoshop to edit the file, edit and save. The placed image updates automatically. Only for bleed, you will have to make the bleed before placing it in the page. Anyway you should have CS2 installed. Otherwise also the file can be opened in lawer versions of pohotoshop if it doesnot have fonts or other effects applied.
