Compound Clipping Paths in Photoshop 7 don't work?

Is it me, or are compound clipping paths just not working right in Photoshop 7. I thought that if you were cutting a path of let say a donut, that you could cut a separate path within the larger path and Photoshop would know that you wanted that hole knocked out when you exported it as a eps. Even when I try to make a selection, it doesn't seem to acknowlege that inner path. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've just tried this and it knocks a hole out of the middle for me! Are you sure you have the correct settings for the pen tool? If you know this already then sorry in advance - but - when you click on the pen tool you get a set of options at the top of your screen. On the top/left you can select either the shape layer - paths or fill pixles options. Select the paths option. On the right you must select the option on the furthest right "exclude overlapping paths" - if this option isn't selected then you won't be able to "knock out" the middle of your "doughnut".

Hope this helps.

Thanks Clowns!

Yeah, I just got hip to this from someone on the Adobe forum. I've been using Photoshop for years since 3.0 and the options for the pen tool have been altered slightly from version to version. I guess I'm just set in my ways when it comes to the pen tool and didn't realize that it now has these options in 7.0. I never really looked at all that stuff up top.

You're not on your own! I'd been using it for years as well and couldn't figure out what the hell was going wrong! I had to ask one of my juniors for help! Embarassing or what!?

clipping paths not working

Funny I just came across this... I was just here to post the exact same question. I will have to check my pen tool options.

Question: I have hundreds of graphics possibly pathed this way. Is this a problem that can be corrected easily? Can I set an action to correct it?

Thanks in advance.
