Vector Smart objects

Has anyone ran into PSCS2 files with vector smart objects? If so, how are you trapping them, or are you? Once again Adobe has given the designers a tool to give us fits.

Interesting point, hadn't thought of that. Probably have to flatten the image and use photoshop trap.

i make a layer under the vector object, load the objects outline (apple-click on the shape/layer icon in layers) and give the outline a stroke - in the appropriate colour

similar in a way to illustrator's "paste behind" method - basically make the trap underneath the object.

this way you only deal with the outline shape and don't affect any fills or blending modes in the shape. you also control the trap weight

flattening the image and using the trap function can work too

My Photoshop guy here says save it as EPS,but once you do you cannot
open it back up or it will rasterize the vectors. Try it.

I tried that, all my type stays as vector but the smart vector object is still low res looking. Do i need to have the object available (like having a linked file)?

Save it as a PDF instead of an eps and make sure you check the vector data box. Eps's R so oldschool.
