PSHOP CS2 won't open files using OPEN

This is not related (I don't think) to the Adobe Types file issue...

CS2 on Mac 1.25mhz 1.25gb ram Dual Pro running 10.4.6, during work session I open a file or two, nothing too big, usually from within Pshop Open dialogue or Bridge...all is well for a while then if I try opening a file I get the spinning Beach Ball.

I have to Force Quit, trash Adobe Settings & plist file and then all is well for a while. Then it happens all over again. I've trashed the Adobe.Fnt.Ist files too.

Logging in as Guest User doesn't show the problem...so I guess there is something happening withiin my User Account. Ran MacJanitor, Disk Utility, fsck (didn't get any error report with that).

All I can say is that it seems time related, ie leaving the application alone for a while eg while I was typing this and trying to open files results in Beach Ball ad infinitum! No other apps other than Safari running.

Pass me a beer!

Just spoke to our IT dept and it left them scratching their heads. The best they could come with is either throwing the Frinder prefs (plist) or reinstalling Photoshop from scratch.

Hmmm.... says I.

Certainly try the finder prefs and it might be launch services prefs, but I haven't heard of them affecting a machine in this way.

Has this only happened since 10.4.6? If so can you go back a version?

If you did go to 10.4.6, contact off forum and I'll send you the 10.4.5 AFP files and instructions.
This helps if you are working with an AFP mounted volume.

If you are working off of a server, you may have Appleshare issues.

Check out this from Adobe:

here is an additional bit on issues with opening PS files:
