Invalid ICC Profile

Today I got this error message when trying to open some .JPEG files:

"The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile is invalid. Ignoring the profile."

I got this message when using Photoshop 7, CS, and CS2.

When viewing the files through Photoshop CS's File Browser, it says that the color mode is CMYK and the profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

How does a CMYK image get an RGB profile? Is that what causes the invalid profile error?

An RGB profile cannot be assinged to a CMYK color space and visa-versa.
Apparently, the ICC information is corrupted.
