Color issue in Photoshop CS

G5 Dual 1.8 w/Adobe CS and Quark 6.5.

Whenever I export as an EPS from Quark of just some basic text I rasterize that file in Photoshop and the blacks change shade. Reason for this is I layout a simple form in Quark that has some type and a barcode all at 100% black and then I need to save that as a jpeg to send off. The blacks go from 100% to 73% or even lower.

Is this a color management issue? Currently my Photoshop setting are: US Prepress Defaults. Since we are on this subject. What should I have my Color Settings at in Quark, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Distiller and Illustrator? I work with print . . . no web work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
j-

Why are you going through so many steps anyhow? Should be able to set everything in photoshop. Then just save as a jpeg. Going through so many steps with a file can cause problems also.

I am not worried about the steps. There might be other cases where I might need this feature and would like to know what causes the issue. I can obviously set everything up in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. I have the templates in Quark and have always followed the same procedure in Quark 4.0 and Photoshop 5.0 . . until I recently upgraded to CS and Quark 6.5 have I seen this issue.

I also noticed that creating some vector objects in Illustrator as a test. When the images in Illustrator were 100% black in Photoshop I am getting this from the eyedropper:

C-69
M-63
Y-62
K-56
