Photoshop Color Settings

I was hoping somebody might could help me with understanding photoshop color profiles.

In my shop we only have a 5 color Didde Webcom which we are forced
with just 5 colors no matter what no running through twice. Ever tried printing Coated Stock on a Non-Heatset Web?

Anyway a client was wanting a 4 over 4 job of course we could not do this but we could print 3/2 which meant I have to make a CMYK picture
look nice with just 3 Colors using Black and 2 Pantone Spot Colors.

We do this quite a bit for our own work which we are an in-plant for a non-profit.

I was wondering if in photoshops color settings, which I have different profiles for different paper stocks, if the DOT GAIN settings for CMYK would be applied to any Spot Color Channels? Or am I just misunderstanding something?

Thanks a bunch for any help.

The dot gain settings that you enter for your spot working space would be used, no?

I get it now although it did give me a more accurate preview. I could definetly see where I was getting alot of gain and how I was thrown off.

Thanks for the Help.
