Blank CorelDraw files??

Maybe someone here can help me out. I have one client that uses CorelDraw, but everytime I open a file from him, it's blank. I have no idea whether it's from his end and there might be something wrong with my CorelDraw. Any ideas?

I'ts been a couple years since I've had to deal heavily with CorelDraw, but I think this can happen if he's using a newer version of CorelDraw than you. For some reason Corel doesn't always give a useful error message when that's the case.

Yes, it's almost always because the file is in a newer version of corel that the application that's opening it. Maybe ask the customer to supply the file in an earlier version or ask them if they are using a compatible version with your shop.

Thanks for the replies. Of course, both of you are correct. The client kept telling us they are using the same version as us (CorelDraw 12), but of course they upgraded. :?

With Corel you have a save selected objects only feature in the save popup. If the client hasn't selected objects with this box ticked the file will save an empty page.

For this reason we ask clients not to highlight the selected only feature....

It's useful as some designers leave all kinds of text and objects just out of view of the Fit to page, hence you get missing font and colour errors for objects that are'nt even meant to be in the finished document.

Hope this helps.
