PM7's converter

I was "playing around" this morning and noticed that PageMaker 7 has a "Converter for Microsoft Publisher and QuarkXpress"... has anyone used this?? does it convert publisher reliably?.. just curious is all. Feel free to drop some opinions, or feel free to tell me Im a dumbass... Im just curious. If I can find me an old publisher file I may play around with it and see what it does.. Thanks peeps/

fftopic:

got some free time, there PB??

I've never used it, I'm scared of things that do that kind of stuff.

Poop files and Ragemaker....ohhhh I'm getting a headache already!

hahah.. How can I be off topic when I started the topic??.. youre funny.

I actually saw it because I received a ragemaker file(PC nonetheless). I was going through the start menu to open the program because I dont have a shortcut on the desktop, because I never use it.. that's when I saw the converter and was curious. Hence, the asking of the most intellegent prepress operators in the world for their opinions. Thanks for yours. I'll keep the term "headache" on my mind and remember the next time I am looking for some self instigated pain. :P

no, no... I'm the one off topic by not giving an answer to the question.
sorry, early monday morning humor.

But to actually answer the question...
I think it works okay, but it's like any other plug-in converter (like Quark to Indesign, for instance), it works, but then you have to work to get it re-formatted to look correct.

that's the headache part...

righty-o then. kinda figured that would be the case.. if I find extra time and feel like torturing myself, I might see with an old poop file how bad the reformatting is.. just out of curiousity is all... I kow it'll suck and I would never use it in production, just for education purposes.

thanks dave.
