CorelDraw and commercial printing

I'm doing a poll about the acceptance of native CorelDraw files.
Printers - do you take them?
Designers - do you find you can submit them, or is finding a commercial printer who accepts them a problem?

Note this is not a question about about Corel's quality as a dtp application ( I have my own opinions about that........) nor about accepting CDR jobs exported as eps or AI files.

In general we don't accept Corel Draw files..but that is mainly due to none of our customers working with it..

If we had more of a need for it, I'm sure we would find a way (just like publisher and word)

We accept CorelDraw files, but they are indeed a rare thing. In 6 years at my current shop, I think there have been fewer than a dozen altogether.

I've always accepted Corel Draw files. Only receive about 2 or three
a year or so! Usuall just convert text to outlines and export as a
Adobe Illustrator file or PDF.

Get very few if any native Coreldraw files. Standard proced. would be to eps out and place the page in Quark.

I can count on one hand the number of Corel files I've ad to deal with. With a RAMpage rip is was never a big deal as long as they didn't use transparency.

If it prints, you can generate PDF, probably best via PostScript to Distiller (i.e. printing to Adobe PDF), using Press Quality settings.

Maybe that's a plausible solution?

I'm sure I've said this somewhere else already, but by accident I found a printer who takes only CorelDraw files.

Okay, she does take PDFs, but she was really thrown when I submitted a Quark file.

This printer was the client's anointed printer and I had to work with her, of course.
