I was using the character palette to insert a special character (OS 10.4.9) when the palette froze up on me and would not close. After restarting, everytime I open a window, launch a program, click on the desktop, etc, the palette briefly flashes open and closes. I verified and repaired permissions but it did not seem to help. Anybody have a cure or know where the preferences are for this little bugger so I can trash them. Thanks.

have you tried turning off the character pallet in preferences?

I've had this before -- quite annoying!

You can try disabling the following preference file and then logging out and back in:

/Users/~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist
