I just installed Tiger v10 today [Sun, Sydney]. Nice and quiet at the coal-face...aaaah!
Coupla questions following on. I want to make sure our Fuji Luxel PPD gets picked up by Indy CS3 when I [attempt to] install it one evening this week. Anyone care to give me the Readers Digest on getting it to appear in my list in Print Dialogue Box dropdown. I know where to find it, just the Indy link-up I'm not sure about.
BTW have done Permissions Repair after Tiger install and given myself an elephant stamp on my left hand as a reward..[Sunday night, I've really lost it]. Also almaink, is it still "/sbin/fsck -fy" for running it in Tiger, as for Panther. Cheers in advance.

Yep same as panther. Indy should pick up the Luxel automatically as long as the PPD is in the Library/Printers/PPD folder but I'd be leary using Indy CS3 for prodution yet, being new it's bound to have a few bugs.

Thanks. Yep, we only upgraded to CS3 cos started getting jobs from major customer who went CS3 and didn't bother telling us. We heard afterwards, [not sure if true], they had had major "crash" of CS2, whatever that may have meant. Poor system/Mac Maint., no doubt. Solution was to leave the wreak on the roadside and get the new CS3 model from the dealer straight up. Bewdiful.
So you reckon stay CS2 for time being unless it's CS3-supplied?

I always do. I load the newest, test it with assorted jobs, then wait for the first real file in that version. My RAMpage is set up for it now with the latest update for CS3 and so far all the tests I've run seem fine, although I've had some issues with the new pallets in Indy itself.

...bit of a follow-on question again. I know this crops up from time to time, but thought I'd consult the oracles here, while the topic still has embers. Since Tiger install, when I go to print from Indy CS2, I get every printer known to humankind. Have read, [somewhere], that you can move the PPDs you don't want, so you don't have to scroll down to find your regular one. I only need the FFEI Luxel. Can I safely move the others to another folder without upsetting the Luxel one? If so, is there a restriction on where I can move them to?
having asked this, got a feeling Blatner covers this in his Indy book. But it's sitting at work.

yes, you can move or delete any that you don't need.
no restrictions, they are included by Apple as a convenience for you, so that virtually any printer that you plug in, will have a driver (referred to as "plug and play").
cheers,
David
