Does OS 10.4 support Classic Mode?

We recently purchased a new Intel-based mac and noticed it does not support classic mode and therefore we cannot run any of our older OS9 applications on it. I am wondering though, if we upgrade just the OS on some of our PowerPC Quicksilver g4's, if they will be able to run these programs or if this is just an issue w/ intel macs. Anyone know?

Yes, the Intel Macs do not run Classic.

What OS are you loading on the G4?

10.3 or were you planning to load 10.4?

It works great in 10.3, I haven't run it under 10.4 yet, not that I want to.
But, I believe you can. We have a G5 running 10.4 that has a System 9 folder in it

Yes, classic works on G4's or G5's with OSX 10.4x.

The G4 is running 10.3.. We are trying to figure out if it would be a worthwhile upgrade.. for instance w/ 10.4 you get Dashboard (i personally love it), and support for the new mighty mouse (which one of our g4's was upgraded to since the reg. mouse died).. under 10.3 it defualts to having a left and right click, which would annoy me, luckily it isnt my workstation.

We are running OS 10.4.7, with no problem with Classic. We have Classic in the startup group, since we still use Preps 4.2, which has to run in Classic.
By the way, I would be dead without my MightMouse, too. Now my MightyMouse at home is dying, so its about time to get a new one. It wont scrowl done, only up

Have you tried cleaning it? I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and found the cleaning instructions and now it works fine.
