Mac clock bug?

When I started my computer this morning, I received a message that my clock was set before 2001. The time had changed to a different date, time and year. The warning also stated that this would interfer with my system operations, which it did.

I opened the date and time menu in system preferences and checked the "set date and time automatically" function, then a message popped up asking to do a debug. I clicked okay and so far that seems to have fixed the problem.

Has anyone else had issues with this "bug clock"?

Thanking in advance,
L.

Remember the first commandment of the Mac Bible: "This is the Macintosh. It's SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!"

Every time I lose power to my Mac power strip.
It is probably the battery in the computer that keeps the clock set.
Time to replace.

I've been getting the massage for about three years now. Next time I have to crack the iMac open, i'll try an remember to change it.

Thank you pmkprog.

The Mac is 3 years old. I thought the battery might last a little longer.

It might not be the battery, you could try restting the p-ram.

Restart your mac and hold down apple, option, p and r symultaneously, and wait for the start up chime to sound three times, then let go.

you may still have to reset the clock after that, but the change should stick if it doesn't stick then it's batttery

hope that helps

Thank you. That might have done the trick. No clock changes since.
