You didn't mention what OS you're running, so this is general info:
You don't really need any anti-virus for a Mac (as of today anyway).
The only thing a Mac can do with a virus is to pass it on to someone with a PC via a file attached in an email or an infected file placed on a PC from a CD or DVD that was burned on a Mac.
And...
as far as defragging, or disk scans, this is not necessary on a OS X Mac (it's Unix, and it runs best in a semi-fragged state due to the journaling of the hard drive).
The only real "routine" maintenance you need to do is:
1. Make sure that you run the
Cron scripts (if your mac is on 24 hours a day, and not asleep, these will run automatically at approx. 3am, daily, weekly and monthly).
2. Make a
back-up of your drive.
3.
Before and after installing any software on your Mac, run "repair permissions" from your Disk Utilities (located in your Applications folder/Utilities).
When system updates are put out by Apple, go to the
Apple support web site and check to see if anyone has any problems
before you do the update.
Other than that, you really only need to do repairs/maintenance when problems arise.
Macs are pretty rock solid.
hope this helps,
David
PS.
Do Not Run Norton on an OS X Mac.
