Output Option menu is missing from the print dialogue box

I have just upgraded to the latest G5 PPC and installed OS 10.4.6 and in all applications in the Print dialogue box I cannot find the Output Options menu so I can output a postscript file, is there another patch that can be installed to add this option back into the printer settings. I didn't have this issue with 10.3.9 only in 10.4.X

In any of the print dialog boxes there should be a button called 'Printer..." Click that button to display the next print dialog box. Here you will see a button called PDF with a downward pointing triangle. Click that button and a menu will appear, you want the second option 'Save PDF as Postscript..."

It's a silly name, because no pdf is generated, but it will work as it did in Panther. Why Apple made the change in Tiger is anyones guess, but it keeps us on our toes

Not confident using the PDF to postscript option

We used to use it in OX 10.3.X and had some issues with it creating bad postscript so I'm not confident using that option. Has anybody had any issues using this option in 10.4.X

What issues did you have with the Postscript?

The only issue we've seen is with Quark 6 files and rules (that are pasted into text boxes) dropping out in the postscript file. See my thread from a while back.

I am not aware of anything else.

If you had problems, you must have used the .pdf option not the .ps option. OS X's pdf is funky, but the .ps files should be fine.
The output option thing was changed when Tiger came out and caused ton's of confusion.
Jezza's comments should get you what you need.

hope this helps,
David

no issues here, haven't had any problems yet, plus, i believe that's the only way to write a .ps file.
