We are currently a Mac environment with a Unix server. Everything works fantastic, as we have NetATalk running. We also archive to a PC running 2003 Server. This was not a problem until we became paginated. The issue with archiving to the pc now is the fact that SFM won't allow more than 31 characters in the file name. Many files are fine. Some are not (we now have ad source numbers in the name which makes them longer).
The fellow who handles the PC end of IT wants me to see what I can find for our filename issue. He's going to build a robust archiving server with 2Tb of space. We're leaning toward ExtremeZ-IP. Is there any other way to go? I'd like for us to get a mac server, but alas, I appear to be the only one.
Please help.....
