Read my post on the Security update. I has to restart in single user and fix permissions. Lucky I installed Applejack as suggested by the wise ones on this board. Saved my butt.

I tried everything to get back to standard mode. I tried command line I could find. everything from "exit" to "reboot" to "fsck -y" nothing works. It just continues to reboot into single user mode.

HELP HELP. :?:

I had an interesting morning as well. Back to the spinning pizza with all programs not working except internet. Again I had to power down, go to single user and run Applejack.

I suggest installing the CD and starting with the Cd, trying to repair permissions. That is what I had to do to get going this AM (not the CD part).

I am not a Unix guy. Try the Cd and rebuild permissions. What model of Mac is it? I have G4 867 single.

You could also try to boot off the CD and do an "Archive and Install" to restore the OS to what it was before the update. It won't destroy any data, it will just make a new system folder and retain all you settings.

Good luck,
David

Well, it beat me. I ussually pride myself on being able to solve most of the problems I have had with any of my macs.

I had to Reinstall and configure the server software from scratch. Its a good thing All my files are on an external firewire drive.

John
