How do I share out a hard drive?

We use our mac with Tiger as our file server but the other 2 macs have Panther. I need to connect to the Tiger hard drive from the Panther because this is where all of our jobs are located. We used to connect through the network without a problem but we have extreme issues with quark when we connect this way. After talking with quark support for half a day or so we discovered that the problem was because of the Tiger vs Panther and the way we were connecting. All is well if I connect to the Tiger from the Panther using the connect to server method and typing in smb:// and then the appropriate IP address. The only problem is I can not connect to the hard drive. I can connect to two folders levels within the hard drive but I can't back it up a bit.

I originally thought I could just put the jobs folder on the Tiger into the folder I am able to connect to but when I do that, the Panther no longer recognizes any of my fonts or quark documents.

Hope this isn't too confusing. Can anyone help?
