Be afraid. . . . be very very VERY afraid.
You going to have to get a commercial product. I am using Suitcase 10. It has issues with quark and classic thiough. I hear font reserve is a better choice. Stay away from the .dfont faces.

the version old Extensis Suitcase that runs native in OSx is 10. I use it daily, with many bugs. I have heard Font Reserve is better. Either way if you want to manage fonts on the fly with applications running you will need something. the older versions of suitcase will all run under classic and I am not sure if your OSx native applications will even recognize new fonts opened that way.

One program I totally forgot about was MasterJuggler made by Alsoft.
I never used it in 9, but I do see they have plans to migrate it to OS X..
Could be interesting to see what they come up with..if anything.

Hold on to your hats, seems 10.3 will incorporate font managment. . . . . I am expecting huge and major conflicts. . . .

from what I have seen on the 10.3 font management, we will still need a 3rd party product..
I do realize it's not a completed package yet, but as of now, there doesn't appear to be any type of auto-font activation, something I have grown to love.

FONT AGENT PRO!!!

Go download the demo. It is the best font managment software I've found. I tried all the others but this one is great especially for tradeshops where you get fonts for each job. You can create COMPLETLY separate font libraries that don't effect each other. Classic and OSX activation.

Are there any drawbacks to Font Book (the bundled OS X font management app) besides no auto-activation? Since I never use auto-activation on my old OS 9 version of ATM Deluxe, I don't see that as a big deal. I just hope it plays nice with Quark 6 and the new versions of the Adobe apps.
