Classic won't install
Just bought a new iMac flat screen G5.
Running 10.4 Tiger.
Tried to install Classic as per instructions from Install Disk 2, but get the message "Nothing to Install."

maybe it's there already?
have you tried going to your system prefs/classic and seeing if it will start?
curious,
David

No, it's definitely not already there.
Did a search for Classic, and the only item that showed up at all was a greyed-out folder icon. The book even says it doesn't come installed anymore and if you want it you have to install it from Disk 2. I inserted the disk, hit the Install OS 9 button, it goes through all of the needed steps (where to install, agree/decline to the legalese, etc), and a few seconds after hitting the Install button, the message comes up that there's nothing to install. I'm stymied.

You can LITERALLY copy the System Folder of an OS 9 mac or an other classic System Folder of a OS X Box on the network. Then you'll be able to start classic.
Don't confuse the folder called System and the the one called System Folder, the first is the OS X one the second is the one you want to copy.
P.S. The OS 9 System got to be 9.2.1.

I did the exact same thing. You have to click the little box to the left of the language version you want to install so it puts a little check in the box. You're telling it to install with nothing selected.

Thanks, Joe.
I'll try that when I get home today and let you know if it worked.

Okay Joe, that's what it was all right.
I was highlighting the English language version in the Install menu (like you would in OS 9), but didn't even notice the tickbox next to it which required a checkmark.
Thanks again for your help.
