Indexing Quark / InDesign files for use with Spotlight
After years of having all of our archived client files on individual CDs, with a reference binder printout of all the folder names on each one, we are trying to get everything searchable through the OSX Tiger spotlight function. We bought a huge hard drive, and now have all of the files accessible from one location. Spotlight works great for text files, Word docs, and embedded text in PDF - but I was wondering if there was any way to get it to index native Quark and/or InDesign files? I.E., if I want to find which business card file contained the name "John Smith", is there any way to search that? Most of our more recent jobs will also contain a proof PDF file in the folder, which is indexed by default and easily searchable - but many of the older job folders will only contain Quark files.
I understand there are 3rd party spotlight "importers" that can allow indexing of data in certain applications, but I haven't been able to find anything for Quark or InDesign. Does anyone have any ideas, or are we basically forced to wait until Adobe/Quark releases a proper spotlight plugin?
