OSX versioning issue

I have seen this before related to an OSX upgrade path. When I had this trouble it happened from upgrading from machine specific install disks.

I did a non-reformat system re-install from Boxed OSX generic machine disks and the problem went away.

I assume the machine came with 10.3.8 pre-installed--I doubt my Mac-hating IT guy would have done it beforehand. By "non-reformat system re-install from Boxed OSX generic machine disks" do you mean to re-install the system from the discs provided? Not quite sure I know what you mean!

thanks!

No, I mean the disks supplied with the machine are the problem, if you are having the some problem I did. I reinstalled with Panther disks from a box (you, know, generic install disks) and that solved the problem. If you don't have generic install disks... well, I don't know, maybe wait for Tiger.

I haven't noticed this problem since updating to 10.3.9.
