Ooooooh yeah! My old annoying computer tricks are getting wore out. Try putting a small post it with a funny message over the eye on someone's optical mouse. I've seen people freak out and unplug the computer because they think it's frozen. They finally think to turn the mouse over... sucker!

I haven't done this one in OSX but back in the OS9 days you could go into "scheduled tasks" and tell the machine to shut down at a random time every day.

I once downloaded a OS9 app called "gravity mouse". The subject would be mousing along happily when out of the blue the cursor would dive to the bottom of the screen and lay dead for a few seconds before re-animating.

Screwing with the settings on the buttons of a mighty mouse can be funny too but it's pretty easy to figure that one out.

My kid's copy of "The Very Quiet Cricket" was destroyed in a reading incident last year, but on the last page, there a similar device that simulates a cricket chirping (incessantly). I still have the electronics. It would go quite nicely slid between the wall and baseboard in the company presidents office if I ever get the nerve. I might even buy more copies of that book.

i have one of the "annoy-o-trons" and it does a damn fine job of irritating my coworkers. since i'm the first one in i try to move it around every couple of days so they don't find it.
