Hosting own website and email question...

Hi everyone...I know this isn't exactly a prepress question, but is anyone hosting your own email and website? I kind of like the idea of having complete control and not relying on the competency of another web-hosting company. Anyone doing this and what are the costs like? Thanks, Mat

In all honestly, if you are just doing a basic page with static HTML, you are far better off paying someone to host it for you..

for $8 per month, you can have someone else handle your backups/hardware/bandwith/software upgrades..

seems like a deal to me, i've got enough to do, last thing I need to worry about is if my PHP is up to date.

that's my $.02 anyway.

Ditto to Cory's comment, We checked into doing all that in house and decieded it would be well worth it to not have the headaches involved in maintaining allthat you need to complete a website as well as FTP services. We hired a freelancer and went in that direction and It works well for us.

I have a couple of websites that I've designed hosted here:

http://www.savinghosting.net

I only paid $12 per year for hosting and about the same to register the domain. Thats the cheapest I've found, and have had no problems for about 2 years now.

Hosting website

We recently had a problem with someone "spamming" our website so it was becoming a serious concern. Mat
