Hollywood movie 'printing' descrepancies
Just out of curiousity, has anyone else picked up on movie printing descrepancies? I watched Spiderman 2 three times in the theater and each time my companions couldn't figure out why I was laughing when the editor-assistant guy was moving around printed type, laying out the front page of the Daily Bugle. I though it was funny because they had all this high tech modern stuff and here's a guy doing paste up on a regular basis for the front cover of a daily. Now, granted, I have never worked at a newspaper but I doubt the guy would be doing paste up all the same. I've seen other historic type movies where you have to wonder where and how they printed the stuff the characters are reading because it sure couldn't have been done during the time period, or more precisely, it would have cost a fortune due to supply/demand/specialist cost.

In the movie Catch Me If You Can...I think that's the name of it...when Tom Hanks character finally catches up with Leonardo's character, who is printing fake payroll checks on an enormous press, Tom shuts the power to the press off. The press immediatly begins to spew checks everywhere and they rain down all over the place...apparently all die cut and everything.

Heh, on a related note, my wife has been watching "The Apprentice" pretty regularly. In an episode last season (and another this season I gather) the teams had to come up with an ad campaign, to be judged by a large ad agency out of NY. (Donny Deutsch I believe)
So, her argument was - there's no chance that the way the show portrays the inception of an ad campaign is realistic at all. There are probably dozens of people behind the scenes helping these idiots create a passable product pitch, yet the show makes it appear that 6-10 amateurs can whip up a mutli-million dollar campaign in less than 24 hours. Isn't TeeVee great?
:P

I watched my one episode of The Apprentice a few months and over half the show consisted of the women screaming at and backstabbing each other. What happened with the ad campaign? I'm curious

Sort of related,
something that really irritates me is when the graphic used on a films title sequence isn't carried through onto the artwork of the DVD/video cover!
Anybody else feel this way or I have I got some sort of disorder!?

The Apprentice from 11/11
The Apprentice from 11/11 -
Did you catch on to the Marketing company that sent out a emal blast with no customer contact phone number on the email....the gal says "I thought we had a verbal approval".....
A Verbal approval!! We all know better than that! There is no way a marketing company would do anything with a verbal approval would they?

A verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Ahhh, the one from this season had something to do with creating a recruiting ad for the NYPD, using their training facility to get a bunch of video footage, interviews, etc. It was nice the way they basically showed that you can show up with a camera crew, take over an entire facility for the day & get a ton of shots in the can then worry about what it all means later on.
Oh, and of course the "winning" campaign they threw up on the JumboTron in Times Square, even though it severely blew. I love "reality" TeeVee, it's so, well, real! :P

If you get a chance and want to get a good laugh, rent "To Live and Die in LA" Has a great car chase, but the best is the film prep with William Defoe making his funny money plates. Will take you back a few years. Promise you say out loud, "What is he doing?" as he tries to opaque a neg.
