We have a position available for one (1) PrePress Tech/Mac Operator. We are a daily newspaper, with a commercial print shop that handles around 35+ jobs a month. In the year of 2005 we averaged 1,498,891 Impressions/month.
This position will have a 90 day probationary period and pay is dependant upon skill and experience.
Required Knowledge:
Acrobat 5 through 7
Use of the program, Distiller setting knowledge, be able to support and troubleshoot for clients.
Photoshop 6 through CS2
Use of the program, Settings, Support for clients
Quark, InDesign, Pagemaker
Use of these programs as well as general settings and support
Illustrator 7 through CS2
General knowledge is a plus (we do not use Illustrator much but any knowledge here is a bonus)
Multi-Ad Creator 4 through 7
Ad Layout and Design experience, Creator experience a plus, but not necessary. We design and build ads for two bi-monthly tabloids that we build in house.
Basic HTML/Networking/Web Experience
Any knowledge in these areas are added plusses. Not required, but definitely a bonus. Any CGI or SQL or PHP experience is good as well.
Hardware/Software
Knowledge on Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.4 is required. OS 7-9.2 is a plus. Ability to reinstall OS and applications is a must. Basic Hardware troubleshooting and repair is a plus. Replacing RAM, Hard Disks, CD Roms, etc. Logic board and other more serious problems are outsourced.
