Is Preps 5 worth the $1000 upgrade??

Has anyone upgraded to Preps 5 yet? I initially thought the upgrade would be around $500 and was floored when I found out that it is $1000. If anyone is using Preps 5, is it worth it?

Bob

I tried a beta of it for about 20 minutes a couple months ago - has some good new features for adding template marks. I only used it for such a short period of time because it would not run if you also had Classic running, so it wasn't worth any more of my time to check it out. $1000 seems pretty steep for an upgrade, though.

It was for us. Our shop is moving to 100% OSX and this was one of the last - or maybe the last - piece of software still running in OS9/classic. It has several new features - some good, some useless. I find the new SmartMarks a waste of time, but I do like the colorized templates and some of the other small improvements.

So, if you are moving to OSX exclusively then yes it is worth the $1000. If not, then it probably isn't.

We're running Brisque 4 at the moment - will an upgrade to 5 mean new hardware or is it purely a software upgrade?

Also I noticed that reg marks in 4 will print in the print area, with our previous quark imposition plug-in it never allowed that to happen

NO

Unfortunately you may have to anyway.
I've been pretty annoyed with Preps lately. A thousand buck for just an OSX friendly upgrade with a few new tricks? Smartmarks my ass. Please. Excuse me, but I've become very anti-creo lately.

$1000 is steep for the the new features

Preps 4.2.3 runs fine in classic mode. And apparently the PXT extension is buggy at best. So FontWizard is the solution for rampage users.

I don't see a real reason to upgrade right away.
