Let's see if I can remember this - someone told me once that you have to open the Photoshop EPS in Illustrator, then resave as an Illustrator EPS. One thing you can't do is open and resave the image in Photoshop - this will cause you to lose the vector data.
I seem to remember testing it once a while back, and the above technique worked, but I have never bothered with it since.
I have been experimenting with Illustrator CS files that have transparent white type over a raster image, and that will rip on the PSM nicely if you save it as PS Level 3, and use the high res flattener settings and then remember to set PSM's preferences to use LW res on the CT edges. Takes a lot longer to rip, and sometimes it gets tripped up, but it maintains the appearance of that transparent type with nice clean edges instead of the rastery jagged edges.
