Brisque to Brisque Network Upgrade

We want to upgrade our network connection between two Brisques. One is a quad and the other a single processor Brisque Expose / Lotem 800V. Fetches from the Quad while platiing are slow as the connection is only 100baseT. Our Kreodak technician says upgrading the connection to gigabit is not possible. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Well the SCSI busses are only 40MB/sec so you're already limited right there...

Unless you want to put in a compatible IBM Ultra320 SCSI card, new ultra 320 SCSI drives and a gigabit card you're pretty well stuck. I guess you could add the ultra 320 SCSI card anyways and a ultra 320 drive in each without replacing the existing card/drive. But that's pretty messy and I think that the Brisque Impose only has room internally for two drives. You could add an external drive. Just don't count on Kodak support unless you pay them to do it. My bet is that if you ask them to they will try and sell you Prinergy.

Besides you would probably want to add more RAM to the system anyways for the extra I/O. Adding RAM on your own is enough to void the service contract. They might tell you how to update the paging space if you get a nice technician.

It can be done, it definitely can be done. But you'd be leaving Kodak support behind as you go traipsing through AIX and the innards of the RS/6000's.
