Prinergy 4.0 - Any thoughts

Is anyone out there beta testing Prinergy 4.0? I'm curious to hear how its going and what struggles you have been having. I need to replace our Main server next year and thought this may be a good time to take the leap to 4.0. Before even considering it though I'd like to know how much different it is from 3.1.x.x and what's not working well. Has anyone checked on pricing for the upgrade?

It's better to hear from actual users than the salesmen.

I was just about to post the same thing. I am currently at revision 3.1.0.5 and the transparency flattening is just killing our productivity.
If any one has a clue for the Upgrade pricing please let us know.

Here is somme info I got this of the Official Prinergy Forum

Quote:
The OS that will be used with Prinergy 4.0 is still under consideration. The advantages of Windows 2003 are significant in security and performance. Once we have complete designed and tested upgrade procedures to Prinergy 4.0 and Windows 2003, we will deside on wheter we will support Prinergy 4.0 on Windows 2003 alone or not. This should be know within a few weeks.

Prinergy 4.0 (regardless of the OS) will be supported on the following platforms:

• Workstation: GX270 (with hyperthreading), GX280, GX620 and later...
• Performance Servers: PE700, PE800, PE830, and later...
• Premium Servers: PE2600, PE2800, PE2900, and later…

Older platforms will not be supported as they are limited in Disk Size and Ram Configurations and lack the required performance. These server are many years old and it will be more cost effective to upgrade the platform hardware (with significant performance increase).

More details will be in the Prinergy 4.0 Release Notes that I will publish when we get closer to the EP Release of Prinergy 4.0.

What Official Prinergy Forum did you get the server information from? I was looking around in the Prinergy Forum on mygua.org and didn't see this information. Just curious to know if there is another Prinergy Forum out there or if I'm looking in the wrong place.

Thanks

Upgrading my Prinergy PowerPack to 4 from 3.1.0.5 is going to cost me around 4000$ Canadian. This doesn't include installation or service, just a disk and a license key. Installation by a tech is an additional 2500$ canadian.

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Thanks for the price heads up. It sounds like it will be comparable to the 2.x to 3.1 upgrade.

WOW!! One-Mack. What in 4.0 justifies the price?
