Preps and sheet mark

Hey everyone if someone can help answer a question that my boss is wanting to try and do with Preps. We have issues with plates not lining up consistently on the press because of our plate processor. What my boss is wanting to do is put smart marks in a location just above where our punch holes are so that the pressman will be able to tell that they are going to have to adjust the plates a little bit. The preps manual is useless for trying to figure out if this is an option or not and the attempts I have made just shift everything way off.
Basic info: Running Prep's 5.0, largest press sheet size is 20 x 28, plates are Lastra LT2 28-3/4 x 23-5/8. I know that we have punch to image margin in Prep's set at 2", No punch margin at 1" and press sheet border at 1/2". Normal layouts we allow a 1/2" for the gripper on the impo's. Hopefully I have covered anything that might be needed to answer the question about the marks.

Maybe I don't get it, but you're saying your CTP plates-image-positions vary plate to plate?
That should not happen and should be remedied, not band-aid-ed with indicator marks and extra press setup time.

We use these to check the bends, on only one press were we able to put one on the punch because our imagesetter doesn't image all the way to the edge of the plate.
