Lines in ripped file

I have been having a problem for sometime now w/ my brisque 5 rip.
When I rip something w/ Ct to Ct @ LW res it produces fine lines that show up on the preview and on my proofs.

Yep, we get the fine KO lines too, happened in Brisque4 too.

We think they are a lack of pixels in the CT data protruding at the edge of the LW window because we fix them by making the window SLIGHTLY smaller in PressTouch. We're hoping our swap-out to Prinergy will finally solve this because the techs never did!

I know Kodak recommends you use a CT res that divides evenly into the LW res, so if your LW res is 100, try making the CT res 12.5 or 25.

We're using Brisque 5 here as well, but don't have a problem with white lines. I've posted a PDF that has screen shots of our set up. It's probably different from yours, but you may find something useful in there....

The main difference in your setup may be the smartedge rip setting. We think this would work well for us too but we can't use it because some devices are still Brisque4. The results are not dependable unless all on B5. (We're going to Prinergy in a month or so anyway and we're pretty sure the little LW leaks will certainly dissappear then!!!)

You might try these settlings tonight LRob.

I also had a great result with a troublesome job Saturday using CT on CT Border = LW res... but beware this is a weird setting and causes other issues sometimes! (like 4 LWs created, not 1)

texasgirl,

I was born in Dallas. GO Cowboys! Anyway, I looked at your settings and that is pretty much how we have it set up when we use smart edge. And we don't have that problem with smart edge, only with CT on CT Border = LW res.

Born,

CT on CT Border = LW res is the one we have the line problem with. I might have worded it wrong in earlier postings.

I talked to my Kodak or Creo or Scitex or whatever tech and he thinks that there is a patch that fixes the problem. I'll let you guys know.

Thanks again

Not to be the voice of doom but we had a tech load the patch fix for little white KOs and it didn't do a dayum thing.

Call the Brisque folks and ask about getting the 5.1 upgrade if you don't have it already. It was a free upgrade for us and we are not on any sort of service contract.

I'm looking over the documentation now and there are a lot of fixes to the RIP module. Granted I haven't installed or tested anything yet but it looks promising.
