Archiving from Prinergy

If you didnt spend the high rate to get the archiving solution from Kodak then how are you archiving? Is anyone using they're own connection directly to the Prinergy server?

Why don't you export the jobs to a zip file then burn to a dvd when you have enough jobs?

We have the tape archive option but are using it less and less.

Mainly because our clients have all gotten past the 'get the printer to retrieve our files for us' stage and all have their own backup/archive systems in place.

We mainly are keeping jobs for a certain amount of time (depending on the customer) and then deleting the job. Minimum is a month, maximum is 6 months.

Our very important customers get their jobs archived in case their office burns down but we are down to maybe 5-10 percent maximum.

good day,

i know this thrread is a bit dated, but it is right in my wheelhouse right now.

we did purchase the prinergy archiving solution from kodak, and i would say to this point i have been very pleased with it! i have quite a bit of experience when it comes to archiving things to tape in the past, mostly with backup exec (not a fan at all) and retrospect (better than backup exec, in my opinion), and i would say this is clearly the best solution i have dealt with, VERY easy to archive and retreive, and when used together with RBA, you are really in business. the only thing i would recommend to anyone getting this is to make sure you get a tape jukebox with as large a tape capacity as you can. ours has limited slots for tapes, so we do have to juggle tapes in and out, but if we had a big jukebox, this whole solution would be completely hands-free. archiving went from being one of my worst headaches to a non-issue overnight.

my opinion, for what it is worth, good luck to all.
