calibration curves on colorbars

Most of our work is output with Staccato screening thru Prinergy. However, our colorbars are output as 175 line. How do we output our work with Staccato screening and also screen our colorbars with the same screening, and apply the same calibration curve to both?

I'm totally unfamilliar with Prinergy, but if your colorbars are pre-rastered, they will output through the Rip without change...meaning if they were pre-rastered at 175lpi, they won't be rescreened through a stacatto workflow. You could build new colorbars, say in Illustrator. Not being pre-rastered, they will be screened as the rest of the file. How you would work this out With Prinergy is something i can't address though.

Yes, you are correct. The colorbars we currently use are pre-rastered at 175line. I also found colorbars pre-rastered as Staccato. Why we don't use these when we print Staccato is still a mystery to me. IMHO printing your colorbars at a different line sreen than your live job is, for lack of a better word, useless, unless you're only concerned about Density.
My next problem will be to apply the same calibration curve for the live job to the colorbar. There is a setting in Prinergys Imposition Output process plan for the sheet marks to use either No calibration, Honor calibration in Imposition, or Calibrate. According to Prinergy Help, "Calibrate" will use the same calibration as the live work. Any Prinergy users know if this works correctly on pre-rastered files?
I will find out tomorrow if this is the setting I think we should use. We're running a test on a smaller press to calibrate to G7.

Thanks for the reply.

Are both the 175 and stacatto colorbars pre-rastered as linear? Depending on if you apply a correction curve at the Rip (likely if you go the G7 route) this is another issue, particularly with Stacatto. You'll undoubtedly need a cutback cut with stacatto screening, and you'll want your colorbar to reflect that, not some defualt tone response. Good luck with G7.
