Preps: Device= Plate or Sheet?

Hiya,

Got a stupid Prep's Question on setting up devices - Do I define my Plate size or Sheet size in the Device Definitions? I did RTFM, and it said to load the PPD from your output device (Creo 3244), so I did.. there's my plate size, yippee!
But when I used Prep's for a Perfection job, grippers were off by an inch!
Was wondering if someone had some idea's as to what I buggered up?
Thanks.

- Mac

your device setup should be your plate size, then use the punch dimension to set your sheet edge from plate edge. that is how we have it setup anyway.

your sheet size is defined in your templates.

Thanks Cory.. That's kinda what I thought. Something else I screwed up must have caused the form to image off.
I kept staring at the "Press Sheet Edge to Punch Center" box in the templates saying "That HAS to be the plate Gripper!?!?"
Any tips for sorting out what could have gone wrong?
Thanks.

you might also want to check the template - there is a setback setting in there as well...

and with perfecting jobs, be sure you have the correct sheet size in your template

You can do which ever way works for you. We have our device and template both set to plate size. We don't use the sheet size anywhere but maybe thats because we're using web presses. Works great for us.
