Brisque/Preps/Integris Line on Proof

Hi All,
My first post so go gentle!

We're running a Brisque 5.1 system with Preps 5.1.5 outputing to an Epson 7600 Integris and we're getting no help from Kreodak Techy's on the following issue:

A job is printed to the Brisque in the usual manner and ripped to CT/LW.
The job is then imposed through Preps and run back to the Brisque.
This is then sent to low or high res proofing on the Integris and a black line appears exactly where the top of a picture box is in Quark/InDesign (the width of the line is the width of the picture within the box.
The thing is the line never images on a plate.
Obviously a major issue as far as proofing to clients as we have to explain that it won't actually be there on the final job.
If the individual page is printed high or low res to the Integris we can't replicate the problem, hence the title including Preps.

Has anyone else had this issue, or hopefully know of a cure, as I'm fed up with sending sample to Kreodak only to have no answer.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Yes, this has been a Brisque/scitex bug for many years. You can colour out the line with presstouch. It is a little sliver of the 100 100 100 100 colour that scitex seems to need outside the usable image window. Don't feel bad, on the old systems they used to appear on the plate.

Lines on proofs

This issue is related to the way the file is ripped vs. proof resolution. The Brisque will downsample LWs and "upsample" CTs when going to the Integris. In a nutshell, you will end up with a Combined file in the background (assuming you are running a Direct Connection) to your Integris. Is your connection via Best RIP or the new MPI system?

The best scenario would be to RIP CTs and LWs at a divisible resolution (e.g. 2400 LW Res vs. 400 CT Res) and check for results. Creo had a few fixes for similar issues on version 5.1. Do you have all the latest updates?
