Any Independent Creo Trensetter Techs in Calif.

I was wondering if there were any Creo Trendsetter technicians in California.
We are going to move our Trendsetter 400 Quantum and Kodak wants $1800/hr. We bought it new 2.5 yrs ago and they say the laser head has to be removed. I thought it just gets locked down.

Thanks,
Mike

We moved our 2 trendsetters last week, and it cost us the same price. I'm not sure if you're moving inside the same building, or to another location, but our tech (who is very knowledgable) told me that you only need to remove the head when it is a very unsteady ride. However, if you are talking about moving between locations.... that will most certainly be the case.

However, if you think about it... you really don't want to risk using non-kodak service as they could possibly kill your machine. At least if Kodak breaks it... they have to replace it.

We bought two Trendsetters about six months ago. They came from Canada to Scotland with the heads in, no problems.

A new head is what, $20,000? Plus if you are not on maintenance with Kodak you're probably at the bottom of the waiting list for a replacement. It sounds like it's worth it to me. Maybe you won't have any problems at all. But being down to replace a head is not only going to cost you with Kodak but also lost productivity. And that's even more expensive.
