Brisque 5 Impose/Preps -- How do I do crop marks?

Hi,

We just added an Impose license to our Brisque 5, and I'm wondering how everyone adds cropmarks to their impositions. Specifically, if I make cropmarks in Preps, Brisque does not recognise them and says they are 'missing' and kicks up a big fuss. If I create the crops in Brisque Preview, it says they are overlapping objects and wants to convert the job in to a Packaging job (which renders it useless because I don't have a license for the Packaging workflow).

We have a Kodak guy coming in to do training, but that's not until next week. I'm a little stunned that such a simple thing is proving so difficult. I've had to go back to imposing .PS files because of it. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, why aren't you using Preps for the impo? I found the Brisque impose pretty clunky, but I didn't use it much so it may have useful features. You may be able to create crop marks just using an Illustrator .eps.

I am using Preps for the imposition. Then I output an ICF from Preps and Translate to a Brisque Imposition job.

If there's cropmarks in the ICF, then the Imposition job won't work because the marks are 'missing'. I could probably create some custom marks and place them manually, but that doesn't really seem that efficient. I'll give it a try anyway.

I think I know what you mean silver. Have you added the crop mark files to the Brisque using the Resouce Center? Specifically, go to Tools/Resource Center/Marks and point it to the eps files you're using in Preps for any custom marks being used during impo.

I know we made some changes to our layouts and had to update all of the marks a few times to keep jobs from being kicked.

If that's not the case with your setup, hopefully somebody else can shed some light.

I have successfully added my custom colour bars that I use, but the crop marks are just crop marks. As in: Template --> Modify template page --> Add crop marks...

Brisque comes up with Missing marks: LineRight18 and LineUp18. These marks don't seem to exist in the Marks folder for Preps. Also Preps documentation explains that Brisque doesn't support 'page based marks' which I would assume these crops are, hence the error.

Sooo.... I dunno... Maybe just tell the bindery they are SOL for trim marks?
