Preps floating license - configuring on OSX workstations

I have installed a temp license for Preps floating license on the Prinergy server and done updates on the OSX prinergy workstations to the latest version but Preps is only 5.1.2 and does not see the license on the server.

I have installed manually a copy of 5.1.5 and it reads the license from the server but it looks like Prinergy installs 5.1.2 on its own when the update happens.

Does anyone have any experience with configuring with a floating license?
How do i get it to the latest version without having two copies loaded on each mac? The obvious is to get a valid installation and copy over the top of the auto installed one but i'm not sure if it will screw anything else up or lose it next time an update is done.

Any comments?
