How to setup Integris with Brisque 5
Hello.
I will really appreciate the input from you guys.
We are about to receive new Integris (Epson 9800) but since it is backordered we've got loaner last year version (Epson 10600).
We have to set it up but I hate middle boxes.
Right now we have Iris43Wide's that are hooked directly to Brisque and are driven by Brisque so you just right click and expose entire flat.
When they setup new 10600 they put Dell Windows box to drive it and you can't drop ICF to it.
You have to do combine before which I dislike.
Is it possible to hook up 10600 to Brisque without Windows box and is it a good way to do?
What would be advantage having WIndows box driving the plotter?
Thanks

I guess my first question would be does the Integris have the ability to interpret the CT and LW data natively? That could be the reason for a print server. I vaguely remember a $10,000 Brisque v3 plug-in (Print2go or something like that) that would enable you to print to any printer. The plug-in would just act as a pdf distiller. I'd like to know if this works for you though.
EDIT: Come to think of it, what about the profiles and management? Epson would have to have the drivers that would support this. That could be another reason why you would need another intermediary device.

Thanks for response gig0.
Yes, it has capabillity to interprent CT/LW but not ICF or .job (imposition).
I think it has something to do with fingerprinting of press with profiles but Epson drivers and ICC prfiles are free.
This looks to me like reason to get you to buy more hardware and more dongles and licenses for nothing.
Middle box is Dell regula PC but it has Creo proprietary software with dongle to drive Epson.
On Epson site there are all kinds of Windows and Mac drivers and utillities for free.

yeah I just looked. It's just 2 OS's they have drivers for. There must be some type of big fat useless application manager that helps maintain it? I'm not sure. It looks like a nice piece of hardware though...

ZOX,
Brisque V5 can connect directly to 10600.
all you needto do, is to have the 10600 on the same network as
the Brisque, and to define it on Improofs@Devices

Thanks for reply.
I assumed so and probably it is the same case for 9800 but one thing bothers me.
What is, if any, advantage of having third party rip handle the Epson as opose to hooking it directly to Brisque.
Is it ICC profiling and color management that is better this way?
I mean, why would they sell it by default configuration like that.
They (guys who sold it to us) were well aware of our workflow and when they were here they could have set it up directly, but they went through their own rip.
I see that this 10600 doesn't have network module and is hooked up through USB2 to Windows box but they could have given us network module and all would be set, right?
Thanks again.

Zox,
The 10600 should have USB/Parallel/10,100 Base T/Firewire as standard
According to the Epson web site.

Well, this one doesn't.
Maybe they took it out or something but in a place where network module is suppose to be, there is metal plates.
There are paralles port as well as USB2, not sure about Firewire.

Zox,
In this case you need an adaptor
from 10/100baseT to Parallel called
HP JetDirect , I think the model is 300X
Search the internet for more details.
