folder copying problems

tried posting this in mac os forum with no luck, .

the problem is when copying files that are in folders to our ripro servers, it seems that osx copies the whole folder structure first. then when it tries to copy the files inside the folder, i get a "folder already exists" message, and the only option is to stop the copy.

if i copy the same folder on a os9 machine, it copies everything fine.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried doing the copy on the server instead of the mac?

OS X does copy a temp file for each file before it copies, unlike OS 9.

I don't know about a ripro server, the last I knew they it used Helios and this was a problem for older versions of Helios.
I would look in that direction.

Does this happen with small files? When was the last time you rebuilt the ripro DB?

Devin

yes, copying works when done from the server, a brisque or a mac running os9.
i'm almost positive that our servers are up to date with helios, etc.
it's not so much files, as files in folders or probably more accurately more than 1 folder with files within them.

What version of os x are you running?

Just a little snooping says that the riporo server does not support 10.4.

Call CREO!!

1 machine is running 10.4.2,
6 others are 10.3.8.
the problem occurs on all of them, but i will try calling creo- i'm sure they will have all sorts of enlightening and useful solutions (like usual),
thanks for the responses
