Preps Text Mark

I'm sure someone here can give me a suggestion, so here goes.

I'm using an old version of Preps (version 3.7), which works fine for us but there seems to be one issue that is causing the slightest bit of a problem.
Our owner recently looked at a press sheet that had 4 process colors and 2 PMS colors on the job. On the press sheet where I had put the Preps Text Mark, there is all the information that I typed in - Job number, Client, Date, W/Turn, Form number and side and then finally the color.

The issue is that the job had 2 PMS colors in it. When you look at the area where the text mark is putting the 2 PMS colors, the PMS names overlap each other. It is not because the text mark is too short. I made the text mark 10 inches and on the press sheet the information is only being printed in a 6 inch area.

Is this still an issue with the latest Preps version. If that doesn't happen in the current version, then I'm sure I can persuade him to get the upgrade.

Not sure why this is a huge concern for him at this point, but I promised that I would look into it.

Funny you should mention that, I noticed it on a proof the other day too. The guy I work with said not to worry about, the press ops look use the Job Sheet if to confirm PMS colors anyway. We're on 4.2, so I guess it's a "problem" up until that version. I think we use a default File Indentifier Text Box of .125 x 5" if that helps.

It has never been a problem with the pressmen or with the prepress dudes, but the owner doesn't like it.

Another issue is the fact that the color bars that I put into each Preps template has just a "M1" or "M2" or M3" etc. for each PMS color. He wants the color bars to say the actual PMS name in it.

I don't think he's going to be happy with my results. Oh well.

You could get a custom mark created to do what you are wanting with the colorbar and the text mark. If you can find Ray Johnson, he used to work for Scenic Soft creating these type of marks.
