Certified Pdf in Prinergy Workflow

Does anyone use Enfocus Pitstop Certified workflow in Prinergy 2.2?

We have one customer who has Apogee and uses Pitstop to Certify their files but when Prinergy refines the files we can only open them in Acrobat 6 (osx) if we have Pitstop installed.

Even in Acrobat 6 there is a long delay before the pages open and a window pops up to say the file has been changed outside of the certified workflow.

If opened in Acrobat 5 (osx) with Pitstop it locks the workstation up.

I did a test on a workstation with no Pitstop and the file opens straight up no issues.

Is there a way for Prinergy to strip out that part of the pdf so we can just open it up and get geometry settings etc?

Thanks, Dennis Wyers.

Something weird is going on. The Ceritified PDF information is essentially metadata. Have you contact Enfocus about this (support@enfocus.com) or checked with their usergroup mail list or the Printergy mail list from Creo?

This does sound weird. I know that CREO recomends that Acrobat 5 should be used with Prinergy, but if it locks the computer up, that's no good. Can you try it on a PC with Pitstop? It does sound like a problem with the Pitstop plug in. I have seen that error "the file has been changed outside of the certified workflow" before, but I can't recall what caused it. Keep me posted about this.

When i open the Prinergy file in Acrobat 5 it locks up Acrobat only. I can then kill it and classic and restart them.

My theory is that the file comes up with the warning that the file has changed - because it has. Prinergy always refines to a new file. So it has been modified and Pitstop is detecting it.

I will ask Creo if they can test a file for me to see what can be done.

I think the certified workflow is a good thing - in the Customers site - but i never send the files back to them so it is pointless having it active in the files when we receive them.

No, it's not pointless to have it running inside your workflow. It's "a good thing" because it creates a paper trail. Is Creo asking for Acrobat 5 or PDF v1.4? Try opening up Acrobat 5 in OSX native mode rather than in Classic. That may just do the trick.
