Brisque 4, PreFlight and OPI settings and PDF problems

Im having a couple of problems sending files to my Brisque at my new job and I was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction.

1. When I send files from Quark 6 my on a mac running Jaguar I have my OPI settings as OPI active but I keep getting a missing HiRes error.
PreFlight has OPI, APR, and DCS checked and Rip is set to check the Hires Folder on 12.1.0 and the Use Original APR/OPI path. Am I doing something wrong? :? we just have a Windows Server.

2. I get a PDF from a particular client and I place it Quark 5 but when I send it, it fails missing HiRes and has all the OPI Paths in it from where the client computer. Is it possible the PDF has the Images omitted? if so how can I tell?

Any help would be great!

Not sure what the Windows server has to do with this, but turn off Use Original Path. Make sure you have the specific hi res folder path mapped out correctly in your Hi Res options (you'll see it listed after you've modified the paths). Also make sure the filenames arent using any funky characters, spaces or long filenames. Just use standard letters/numbers along with the proper extensions.

As far as the PDF is concerned, you can find and remove OPI data using PitStop. Not sure if the PDF optimizer can fix this. And what the hell you doing placing pdf's in Quark? Use InDesign, silly! It's not uncommon for us to make a good pdf from a bad pdf using Indesign's pdf export feature.

Good luck!

Hey thanks gig0!

Thanks for the tip on placing pdf's in Indesign I'll try that tomorrow. I dont think you can use PDF Optimizer, My mac was crashing when I used Pitstop to remove the OPI info.

When Pitstop starts crashing things I delete the Pitstop preferences and so far it has always solved the problem.
