Looking for pdf2go license for Brisque 4 or 5

our company is interested in purchasing a used license instead of paying the extortion rates that Creo charges.

Have you tried Apago Pheon software.
It seems to do the same thing and it only $999
They have a free trial so maybe it could work for you.

Pheon is what you want, and it will do a whole lot more that PDF2Go just can't do. Not to mention, Pheon is a lot less money, more flexible and is a program I love. I'm biased as a beta tester though...

I tried it but wasn't sold on it.

I don't like how it slices LW's into quadrants and indexed CMYK (wtf?), unless that's just the demo mode. The website listed it as being a fully functional 10 day demo.

And file size is another thing. I could almost compress the job files into .tar format at the same amount of time it takes to make the pdf's and have way smaller file sizes.

Somehow, I don't think exporting job files to pdf format is all it's cracked up to be. I had expectations of a plug-in that would generate a small pdf file with all the necessary information, including trapping, that can be easily archived and mindlessly dropped on the Brisque if it repeats.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Pheon was slicing CT's into pieces? I don't remember it doing that from my beta testing or production use. It isn't a problem to have the image in quadrants. It can be a good thing. As far as CMYK being indexed, that's a good thing! It's lossless image compression.

believe it or not, not only do the the alternating indexed slices lose or add 1% density to one of the colors (which conflicts with the slices that have to accurate color values), it also offsets the indexed slices by about an 1/8 point. Weird huh? I'm 98.87348234% sure I've got everything set up correctly and tried other settings, even defaults so I don't know if New CT/LW format has anything to do with that.

Hello, I'm one of the developers of Pheon. Please contact our technical support at support@apago.com and we will be happy to answer any questions.

The reason Pheon uses indexed CMYK images is they are 1/4 the size of a raw CMYK image. Using lossless compression such as LZW or Flate would only get 2:1 compression. The LW, not CT, layer is tiled to reduce the memory requirements in the RIP. Tiles also allow Pheon to optimize the image format (raw, compressed, indexed, etc) and colorspace (DeviceGray, DeviceCMYK, Separation or DeviceN) used per tile.

Sincerely,
Dwight Kelly
